Project Description
Client: Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE)
Carrickbawn, Rostrevor
This Project involved the extension of the existing parking arrangements for the residents of Carrickbawn Park, Rostrevor by twelve spaces plus hard surfacing two grassed areas.
The residents of Nos 18-60 Carrickbawn Park, Rostrevor were experiencing difficulty with parking and the resulting traffic congestion. Cars were being parked on both sides of the roadd partially on the adjoining footpaths and grassed areas. This arrangement had the potential to hinder emergency and delivery vehicles and was an area of concern regarding road safety.
The works involved:
- The removal of grasses and planter beds (129m2)
- Constructing six new 2.4m wide x 5.6m deep parking bays at right angles to the carriageway and six 2.4m wide x 6m long parking bays parallel to the carriageway surfaced in asphalt concrete (approximately 208m2).
- Reconstruction of two greased planters by surfacing in concrete paving brick (129m2).
- Erection of a pedestrian guard rail (33m).

Drummond Walk, Kilkeel
This Project involved the construction of an access road and parking arrangements for the residents of Drummond Walk, Kilkeel.
The residents of Nos 2-12 Drummond Walk, Kilkeel had requested the partial removal of a grassed area in order to provide an access road and parking facilities convenient to their dwellings. The lack of access and convenient parking was a particular problem for the elderly and less mobile residents who had only pedestrian access to their dwellings.
Our works involved:
- The construction of a 5.5m wide access road
- Construction of a turning head and thirteen parking spaces surfaced in asphalt concrete (approximate area 706m2)
- Reconstructing an existing concrete flagged and bitumen macadam footpath in hot rolled asphalt (88m2)
- Constructing a new 2m wide footpath and 1m refuge strip surfaced in hot rolled asphalt (102m2)
- Constructing a new 150mm diameter storm sewer (91m) including two main manholes and five new road gullies
- Demarcating parking spaces and the provision of road junction marking in white thermoplastic paint
- Alteration to Street Lighting and BT Services.

Carlingford Walk, Newry
This Project involved the extension of the existing parking arrangements for the residents of Carlingford Park, Newry.
The residents of Nos 84-92 Carlingford Park, Newry were experiencing difficulty with parking and the resulting traffic congestion. Cars were being parked on both sides of the road partially on the adjoining footpaths and grassed areas. This arrangement had the potential to hinder emergency and delivery vehicles and raises concerns with regards to road safety.
Our Works included:
- The removal of grassed areas, extending the road area
- Constructing 9 No new 2.4m wide x 4.8m long parking bays surfaced in asphalt concrete (approximately 274m2)
- Extending the width of an existing footpath and constructing new pedestrian areas surfaced in hot rolled asphalt approximately 74m2)
- Constructing a new road gully and making a branch connection to an existing storm sewer
- Street lighting alterations
- Demarcating parking spaces in white thermoplastic paint.
